CALLIE and puppies
I am devastated to report that Callie is not pregnant. But before we all despair, I have decided to try to breed Lark. She should be in heat within a few weeks and maybe she will prove to be a luckier lady. So, any and all who have been waiting for puppies, sit tight, and bear with me for a few more weeks. I will post here as this new adventure progresses. I so wanted Callie puppies!! We did everything right but, for whatever reason, it was not meant to be. I am planning to breed Lark to the same handsome dude, Zephyr. If this works, (and it has to, right??) there should be puppies in early April more or less.

Hazel, Thyme, Lark and I drove to Ohio to the Great Dane Club of America National Specialty. We were there for a week. Thyme won the novice B class so came home with a blue ribbon. She also earned 2 rally legs. She was part of a rally team which took first place. Lark won a very competitive open blue class handled by Teresa Labrie. Hazel tried utility for the first time. She did not qualify but she did give it an honest try. I was very proud of her.

Gayle's puppy
Gayle Smith and I teamed up to breed a litter for Gayle so she could have a new performance Dane related to her famous Tilly. Thyme is Tilly's granddaughter so she was bred to Yoda who is a Tilly grandson. Since Thyme only had 3 puppies last year, I expected a small litter. But I did not expect only one. She will be Gayle's new puppy in a week. She is, as yet, unnamed.

Breeding plans
I will breed Callie to Zephyr again when she comes in heat. The repro vet found a treatable reason for the missed pregnancy so she will be treated and bred again. If, by any chance, this doesn't work, Lark will be bred when she comes in heat a little later in the winter. But, I am hoping the Callie-Zephyr breeding will work!!! I am so looking forward to Callie babies!!

Just back from the vet's
Disappointing news. Callie is not pregnant. The ultrasound showed nothing. So we will try again....... The vet said we did everything right as far as timing and the semen looked great so next time, I will do it the old fashioned way and take Callie to the boy.

Thyme
Thyme now has her first novice obedience leg and her first rally novice leg. We went to the Great Dane Club of New England obedience and rally trial yesterday. This was Thyme's first time in the performance ring. She got a first for Danes in her rally class and a third over all breeds. And she got a first for Danes in her novice obedience class. She also got a beautiful ribbon for being the highest scoring Dane at the trial!
